Guide to making custom npcs

Hello everyone!

I was asked over on the HF forums about npc traits, and I think this is a good opportunity to share the custom npc reference file which has a lot of information about them. This might change as I finish the next release, but I'm hoping it'll be good enough.
If you think that parts of it are unclear, then let me know and I'll update it before the next version comes out.

It's in the form of a heavily-commented yml file which you can get at http://splendidostrich.blogspot.co.uk/p/custom-npcs.html
Just open it up in a text editor to read it.

I'll be putting together some sort of blog page about custom npcs which the in-game help will link to, but I intend this file to be the main one that teaches people how to use the feature so the new page will mostly be a place for people to get hold of it.
Enjoy, and I hope you're all having a good week :)

  2. Awesome guide! Can't wait to self-inse..., I mean, create my very own NPCs! Any date or week in particular I should keep a note of in my calendar, Splendid Ostrich?

  3. Thanks for this! BTW, are you sure you can't let us play with some of the other required NPCs, like the boss, the client, Horse, and the retiree? I mean you could put in comments like "The following must always be in here, and the following must NEVER be in here" and just make the game go back to default NPC if the alternative isn't viable?

  4. Reading over your guide got me really excited, but if I'm honest, what I'm most looking forward to is when you're eventually able to do your sabotaged contraception update. What can I say, I like jerks?

  8. All the link does is send me to a page saying that the file is no longer available.
