Newlife 0.4.5

Hello everyone!

Newlife 0.4.5 has been released. Early-access Patrons can find it in the creations section here. The changelog is below.

The previous version is now public. You can download it using the links on the right-hand side of the blog. The public version's changelog is here.

As usual, saved files & templates from older versions probably won't work with newer ones.

For new players - just use one of the links to the right to get a zipfile containing Newlife. Once unzipped, you'll see a folder containing .jar and .exe files. Either one of these will run the game.

For either version you'll need to have Java installed. A lot of programs use Java so you might well already have it. If the jar shows up as an unrecognised file type, then you probably don't. In that case you can get it from http://www.java.com/
The exe should tell you if you don't have the right version on your computer, but you'll still need to install java to run the game.
There's a guide for new players here which includes some troubleshooting tips for installation & downloading.

This version adds another three engagement events. After doing six in a row I'll be taking a break from them in the next release and changing some game mechanics instead!

Major changes & additions:
  • Three new events, completing the various options boyfriends have to propose marriage.
Minor changes & bugfixes:
  • Fixes to text issues. Thanks to Max Mustermann, Megh, KTDid, Starglider, Saur and Atc for reporting problems they found.
  • Fixed a bug reported by Blargan where an error message is displayed if the pc has sex as a blackjack forfeit and this was the last action of the game.
  • Added an alternative path suggested by Nemo and Der Kittin Kampf where an impregnator NPC can lie to a virgin who's noticed a condom breaking and tell her that it's intact and she's misreading the situation because of her inexperience.
  • Fixed some issues around the description of the player's new outfit in the shopping befriend situation. Thanks to Megh for flagging up that this wasn't working properly with some outfits.
  • Fixed a bug reported by Blargan where some state from sex during the blackjack scene wasn't being cleared properly and could affect sexual encounters with other men later in the party.

.

Enjoy the new version, and let me know if you find any bugs!

    1. they're prior proposal scenes.
1 regarding "any" NPC if they love you.
Other 2 are "treasure hunter" NPC with a variant if you have found the "treasure hunter competitior" or whatever the NPC is called.

    2. NoOne ButMyself is there any specific condition to trigger the events? I have been trying and still couldn't trigger them.

    3. both require boyfriend to be in love with you so it can propose.
      The other two require first:
your boyfriend is the treasure hunter character (i think custom template may be able to cause this. not sure)
Than for the other you have to find the rival treasure hunter.

  4. I would like to suggest if you are working on more job options for future versions, to add a scene on your first week where you are introduced to your new boss. It would be nice to learn his name and get a basic feel for his personality without having to wait until the lunch scene.

Also it would be cool to have an option to get different haircuts and hair dyes which could tie in to your work uniform (if you choose an unnatural color) and how people perceive your personality.

  5. I think it would be cool if you were to add a roommate feature to the game. So you could have one or two people you interact with on random events within your home.
